DESCRIPTION:Leamington Music Festival 2024.\nDvořák   Song to the Moon from Rusalka\nEben   Okna\nSmetana   Vltava from Má vlast\nHummel   Trumpet Concerto in E flat\nOne of the big successes in the Warwick & Leamington Midsummer Music Festival after lockdown in 2021 was a recital at Holy Trinity Church when Imogen Whitehead played Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. \nJohann Nepomuk Hummel was born in what is now the capital of Slovakia\, Bratislava\, and he succeeded Haydn at the Court of Esterhazy in 1804 – a year after he completed his Trumpet Concerto. Petr Eben’s major work\, Okna\, was inspired by the glass windows created by the painter Marc Chagall. \nImogen again teams up with Oliver Hancock\, Director of Music at St Mary’s Church in Warwick. \nTea\, coffee and cake on sale from 10.30am and straight after the recital. \nGenerously supported by the Friends of All Saints Music \nFree entry | Retiring collection

SUMMARY:Guarneri Piano Trio
DESCRIPTION:Leamington Music Festival 2024.\nGuarneri Piano Trio \nČeněk Pavlík violin | Marek Jerie cello | Ivan Klanský piano\nSuk   Elegy\nSmetana   Trio in G minor Op 15\nDvořák   Trio in F minor Op 65\nThe Guarneri Piano Trio\, founded in 1986\, is one of best in the world and has given several memorable concerts in Leamington over the years. Although the three members also have careers as soloists\, playing together for nearly forty years brings another dimension to the Trio’s performances. \nThe ensemble bears the family name of the makers of both string instruments used by the Trio. Cenek Pavlík plays the famous ‘Zimbalist’ violin by Guarneri del Gesù from the precious collection of Luigi Tarisio\, while Marek Jerie plays a cello made by Andrea Guarneri in l684. \nThe Trio’s stunning interpretation of Smetana’s masterpiece on previous visits absolutely had to be included in this programme\, along with these wonderful works by Dvořák and his son-in-law\, Suk\, and will once again demonstrate the Trio’s complete immersion in the rich Czech repertoire. \nGenerously supported by Michael & Halldóra Blair \n£27 | £17\n(£1 children / students)

DESCRIPTION:Leamington Music Festival 2024.\nAmici della Musica\nPhilippe Graffin violin | Elizabeth Wallfisch viola\nRaphael Wallfisch cello | Piers Lane piano\nMahler   Piano Quartet movement in A minor\nSchulhoff   Duo for Violin and Cello\nSmetana   Polkas de salon Op 7 Nos 2 & 3\nSmetana   Caprice bohemien in F Op 12\nDvořák   Piano Quartet in E flat Op 87\nRaphael Wallfisch\, a favourite and regular Festival performer\, brings his newly-formed group to Leamington. Both French violinist Philippe Graffin with Raphael\, and Australian pianist Piers Lane with Tasmin Little\, thrilled audiences here some twenty years ago\, while Raphael’s wife Elizabeth has more often been heard in memorable concerts in Warwick. \nThe programme sets off the Festival themes admirably with Mahler’s powerful and rare foray into chamber music\, Schulhoff’s atmospheric duo from 1925\, followed by piano solos from Smetana in his big year\, and ending with a glorious Quartet by Dvořák\, one of his most attractive chamber works. \nGenerously supported by Paul & Jane Watts \n£27 | £17\n(£1 children / students)

DESCRIPTION:Ensemble 360\nBrahms   Serenade in D Op 11\nMartinů   Nonet No 2\nDohnányi   Sextet in C Op 37\n  \nIt’s becoming an annual tradition for Ensemble 360 to follow the morning Sunday Family Concert with a large-scale afternoon chamber music concert and in using all eleven members of the group\, this year’s is rather special. Brahms’s first Serenade and Martinů’s Nonet have been much enjoyed by our audiences before\, but the Sextet by Dohnányi is programmed for the first time. Written in Budapest in 1935\, it is a Romantic work\, richly scored and bubbling in tunes – a work to be fully discovered by most of us! \n£22 unreserved\n(£1 children / students)
